At a Glance: This article explains how to locate the SHA-256 certificate fingerprint for your Android app directly from the Google Play Console. This fingerprint is often required for secure integrations and app verification.
Overview
The SHA-256 certificate fingerprint uniquely identifies your app’s signing certificate. It ensures that integrations, APIs, and services can verify the authenticity of your app before allowing access.
Apptrove may request your SHA-256 key during setup for authentication and secure attribution.
Steps to Find SHA-256 in Google Play Console
Step 1: Log in to your Google Play Console.
Step 2: Select your app from the list of applications.
Step 3: From the left-hand menu, navigate to:
Test & Release > Setup > App integrity.
Step 4: Under App signing key certificate, you’ll find the SHA-256 fingerprint listed.
Step 5: Copy the value and share it securely where required.
Note:
Make sure you copy the SHA-256 (not SHA-1) fingerprint, as SHA-256 is the industry standard for app verification.
