Audience

Updated over a week ago

At a Glance: This article will guide you on how to create your own audience segment with different rulesets and use the same with partners to run optimized campaigns.

Overview

  • With the audience feature, users can create customized segments around actions, demographics, attribution type, etc.

  • These segments can further be downloaded and imported to the partners in order to run campaigns for better engagement and performance.

User Identifier

  • Device ID: Ruleset compliance is assessed using the device ID (GAID). When compliant with the ruleset, the device ID is added to the audience list.

  • Ruleset compliance is assessed by grouping all device IDs associated with the same CUID. If the group complies with the ruleset, then the device IDs comprising the group are added to the audience.

  • CUID implementation considerations:

    • Ensure that your data is populated with valid CUIDs.

    • App users (devices) without a CUID are ignored.

    • If a device ID is associated with two different CUIDs, the most recently associated CUID is used.

Export only Selected Params

  • Select the parameters that you want to be exported. It could be customer ID, customer name, customer phone number, or email

Rulesets

  • An audience segment consists of rulesets of one or multiple rules to enable precision filtering.

  • Refresh Frequency: Set the refresh frequency, i.e., how often the segment is updated or refreshed with new data. The current support is from 1 day to 30 days.

  • Below is the list of rules that we support with different permutations and combinations

    a) A user who performed any particular events or didn't perform a particular set of events

    b) User who viewed the ad within a particular time frame for at least an X number of times

    c) User who installed the application within a particular time frame for at least an X number of times

    d) User whose revenue hits a particular threshold

    e) User whose device model, OS version, app version, and carrier are or aren't in a particular list

    f) User with a particular location (region, country, and city)

    g) User whose retargeting or organic is enabled or disabled

    h) User who clicked on an ad within a particular time frame for at least an X number of times

    i) Whose media source is a particular partner

    Audience

  • Give the audience a name and frequency post, based on which the audience will be refreshed, and define your rulesets.

    Audience

Create Suggested Audience

Apptrove also provides an option to create audience segmentation using saved templates and predefined rules.

  • Click on +Create Suggested Segment.

  • In the pop-up window, you'll be able to see templates based on different criteria and rules. Choose the one that fits your needs

  • After selecting a template name, the frequency and rules will be automatically set based on that template.

  • The screenshot below shows an example of rules applied to an audience segment consisting of users who clicked on the ad but did not complete the installation.

As highlighted below, here, two rules are added for users who clicked an ad & users who didn't install the app in the last 7 days.

In case you select the template of inactive users, the rule related to the app-open event is set to create segmentation. Please refer to the attached screenshot for the same.

Furthermore, there is also an option to segment audiences based on events performed using the Conversion A Happened but B Did not template. For example, if a user installed an app and registered themselves, but did not subscribe to a trial or paid plan can be segmented using the predefined rules visible in the screenshot below. Please note that the default rule is set for event type registration and subscribe. You can edit the event name in both rules based on your needs.

  • After choosing the right template, add new or existing connections to the audience segment and click on save.
