Overview

Trackier Apptrove provides you with the "Validation Rule" feature that helps you to identify and block any invalid traffic as per your requirements. Please feel free to add conditions according to your specifications.
Validation rules add a unique layer of defence against fraudulent activity and campaigns that are improperly targeted. The rules give app owners the ability to manage which in-app events and installs are blocked, as well as which installs are attributed to the most recent legitimate source.

Steps for adding a validation rule

  • Go to the "Validation Rule" option in the "Manage" section of the sidebar.

    Validation rule

  • Click on the add rule and add the name of the validation rule.

  • Now, choose which "Metric" you want to add this rule to. It can be any In-App event or an Install.

    Adding the rules

  • When choosing the metric, you can select if you want to consider the traffic to be "Mark as fraud" (Invalid) or "Bypass fraud setting" (Valid)

  • You can configure this to apply to ALL events or selected events in case you choose In-App Events.

  • Validation Rule Conditions

When setting up validation rules, you can define conditions to specify which traffic should be considered valid or invalid. The following conditions can be applied:

    • Order ID – Tracks and validates traffic based on a unique order identifier.

    • Customer ID – Ensures user actions are associated with a specific customer.

    • Item – Filters traffic based on specific product or service interactions.

    • SDK Types – Allows filtering based on different types of SDKs being used.

    • City – Restricts or allows traffic based on geographical city locations.

    • Partner/Media Source – Differentiates traffic based on the source or partner providing it.

    • Campaign – Filters traffic associated with a particular campaign.

    • Campaign ID – Applies validation rules based on unique campaign identifiers.

    • Ad – Targets traffic related to specific advertisements.

    • Ad ID – Identifies traffic originating from a particular advertisement.

    • Ad Set – Groups related ads and applies validation rules accordingly.

    • Ad Set ID – Tracks and validates traffic from specific ad sets.

    • Site ID – Identifies traffic from specific website placements.

    • Geo – Applies rules based on geographical regions.

    • OS Version – Filters traffic by the operating system version of the device.

    • App Version – Validates traffic based on the app version in use.

    • SDK Version – Tracks and filters traffic according to SDK versions.

    • SDK Params 1 to 10 – Allows advanced filtering based on custom SDK parameters.

    Conditions

  • You can use multiple conditions in one rule by clicking on the "+" button. You can choose between "AND" / "OR" depending on whether you wish the rule to apply only when all the conditions occur or only one of the chosen conditions apply respectively.

  • You can access and manage all the validation rules you have added. The system allows you to delete any rule if needed. Additionally, you can review important details such as the validation rule’s status, creation date, type, and associated conditional operators, providing complete visibility and control over your traffic filtering settings.

Note: By using a validation rule you can easily eliminate fraud traffic and get more relevant results.
